ScrantonのLackawanna Coal Mineに行く

シラキュースからの81号線を南下する途中にあるScrantonに寄りました。

ここには、あまり有名でない鉱山ツアーがあります。

わかりにくい公園の中のさらにわかりにくい場所に鉱山アトラクションがあります。

 まずはこの建物に入ってチケットを購入。大人一枚10ドル。

 30分おきにツアーが出発しているので、時間まで下のカフェで待機します。

 下のそれぞれの像は、石炭で作れらています。

 こんな小さな子供たちまで鉱山で働いていました。

 下の石炭の一塊で、平均的な家庭の一年分の火力を補えます。

 このトロッコに乗って、鉱山に入山します。

 これが鉱山への入り口です。

 そして下が炭鉱労働者の就業規則です。

鉱山の中はオールシーズン15度くらいだそうです。炭鉱で働く方々の厳しい業務環境を垣間見ましたが、気温だけは快適です。
